Precision Grinding Services
Surface Finishes &
Tolerances Beyond Machining.
Precision grinding is the finishing step when CNC machining's inherent tolerances aren't tight enough and surface finish specifications demand more than a cutting tool can deliver. Delta's surface, cylindrical, and centerless grinding capability gives aerospace and defense OEM programs the dimensional accuracy and surface integrity required for sealing interfaces, bearing seats, and precision mating features.
Grinding is frequently specified after CNC turning or milling operations to bring shafts, bores, and flat reference surfaces to their final geometry. All grinding operations are performed under our AS9100 Rev D quality management system with full in-process inspection and material traceability.

The Final Step to
Bearing-Quality Precision
Grinding is specified when dimensional tolerances, surface finish, or flatness requirements exceed what conventional machining can reliably achieve. Delta's grinding capability supports aerospace, defense, and industrial OEM programs across component families including:
- Bearing journals and shaft diameters to H6/h5 fits and tighter
- Sealing surfaces and O-ring grooves requiring 16 Ra or better finish
- Flat reference surfaces for aerospace structural assemblies
- Hardened tool steel components requiring precise geometry post-heat-treat
- High-volume cylindrical parts requiring consistent diameter across lots with full CoC documentation
Grinding is often the final operation in a multi-step workflow. Our DFM engineering team plans the complete process sequence — from raw material through turning or milling to final grind — ensuring every operation is optimized for the tightest final tolerances.
